The Armenian Genocide started because the ottoman empire felt it was a threat that the Armenians wanted more civil rights in the 1800s. With this conflict the Ottoman empire took it upon themselves to get back at the Armenians that posed a threat to them. The first real break out in the mass killings of Armenian men and the deportation of women and children started around 24 April 1915, the day when Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectual leaders in Constantinople. From that day on The ottoman empire would send troops to Armenian homes , making them march for hundreds of miles, with no water and food. The typical death of the Armenian men were to be burned alive, poisoned, or drowned, sometimes even crucifixion. Because of Armenian riots from the unfairness the ottoman empire was showing, many people were deported to East of turkey, and some to the west. Once deported most people were killed in extermination camps in ways above. Some 1.5 million people were dead in the massacre/deportations. The Us had a big say in the stopping of the Armenian Genocide. ALTHOUGHT THEY DIDN'T FIGHT AGAINST THE oTTOMAN EMPIRE, THEY HAD A CERTAIN PARTY IN THE GOVERNMENT THAT ALLOWED THEM TO HAVE A SAY AGAINST WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE ARMENIAN PEOPLE. A local governor, Mehmed Kemal, was found guilty and hanged for the mass killing of Armenians in the central district of Yozgat. The Young "Three Pashas" , had already fled abroad.
